Ayurveda For Beauty

Most people want to be thought of as beautiful and desirable. It is part of the human condition and has been since time began. We adorned ourselves to attract mates, to form bonds of kinship, to protect ourselves from predators and secure our food supply. Life was a matter of survival and beauty played an important part in our evolution.

Ayurveda stands the test of time

Today, although we still possess a deep primal need to be noticed, accepted and loved – beauty is a more sensual, pleasurable thing. We groom, decorate and embellish our bodies to please ourselves and others; and countless means and techniques have been devised for men and women to make themselves more beautiful. Of all these techniques, Ayurveda still withstands the test of time.

What is Ayurveda and how does it relate to beauty?

Ayurveda relates to beauty, not only in the superficial, physical sense, but in an all-encompassing way. The Ayurvedic approach cultivates the person within and expands the possibilities of beauty; allowing us to more deeply appreciate our true selves, others and the world.

In Ayurveda, a person is regarded as beautiful, over and above the mask they wear. Beauty is not about copying other people’s ideas, nor is it about fads or trends. Rather, what makes a person beautiful is the reflection of their inner self – the radiance of the inner you is reflected on the outside.

This beauty is honest, individual and timeless – that which is of the truest sense. In an Ayurvedic technique, you will find that being beautiful is effortless. Your actions go with the flow of nature, not against it. You may be practicing discipline, but it is one you do with pleasure.

Practicing Ayurveda means doing things which are enjoyable in themselves. Oil massages, for instance, are a delightful experience. So is eating good food, or inhaling delicious aromas. These are some of the Ayurvedic techniques towards being beautiful, and which are pleasant to engage in.

The unique perspective of this approach will make you see yourself in a fresh, new light. It creates a sense of joy in you, and you eventually make a commitment to yourself. You begin to feel love for yourself and your body, and making yourself beautiful inside and out becomes a natural way of life.

For both health and beauty

Ayurveda concerns itself with both health and beauty. One needs the other, both should go with one another. What happens when we are constantly fatigued or suffer from digestive imbalances and insomnia? We are manifesting ill health, and the radiance that makes us beautiful is stripped away.

They say that those who are beautiful in character or in physical appearance enjoy happiness at the same time. Why is that? It is because they feel an inner sense of love and appreciation for themselves; and toward others as well. These are the things that often make a person beautiful. The inward love and appreciation they feel is reflected on the outside. Beauty is a thing they claim not only for themselves, but something shared with others and the world.
