Care For Your Family Without The Guilts

Why is it that we women have a major attack of ‘the guilts’ when we treat ourselves to… well just about anything really?

I was with a beautiful client of mine recently who I know is busy holding down a full-time job whilst she also cares for her husband, children (and most times, her extended family too). Guess what she felt, coming for a facial with Prana?

“Saroj,” she said “I long for my facials with you, and I wish I could come to the salon more often but…”

At first I thought well, yes – there is an expense here that she feels bad about. But I was wrong because, gently quizzing her, I learnt that it wasn’t about cost at all – she was in an entirely different conflict:

Why Do We Create Conflict For Ourselves?

She really struggled with the time she spent looking after herself while she had so many other responsibilities. What a burden we put on ourselves! And all the while I was conscious that it was not for me to impose my views on her, but…

“Me” Shouldn’t Be A Forbidden Word!

Woman to woman, I believe that when we look after ourselves we are looking after our families too at the same time. How else do we maintain our strength and vitality? I don’t believe that self-denial or guilt brings happiness to ourselves or the ‘others’ we care for. I believe that when we care for ourselves we are delivering on the hopes our parents had for us, delivering the promise we made to those we now share our life with; and giving the very best we can give to our children.

We owe them that… ♥
