Swimming against the tide

Swimming against the tide: being YOU

Being You

It’s no secret: I wake each day and put my heart into what I do as a beauty therapist. And after a long day at the salon the same love goes into preparing the food my family enjoys… not more work, but an opportunity to relax (my version of chilling). And in all of this, I am blessed to have the support of my beloved husband – the wicked flirt at the reception desk who greets you at the door and makes sure that all is well when you leave :-). But you know…

There Is So Much More To Agnelo’s Story

Fact: without Agnelo, there would be no Prana because if I am the heart, he is the life-blood of our boutique salon in Applecross. He is the manager of all we do, the inspiration for all we could offer our clients in the future, and mentor for those people who have stopped to talk to him and found a genuinely interested listener.

Why does this happen so often? Perhaps it’s that they gravitate to someone who’s ‘been there and done it’ successfully in the UK and now in Australia. Perhaps they know nothing of that background and merely sense that he’ll play it straight: listening, asking the right questions, and pointing them in the right direction.

Swim Against The Tide – Be You

He and I well know that starting your own small business venture can be terrifying. It can also be the small voice inside urging you to try – the same voice that Henry Ford, Bill Gates, Walt Disney (and believe it or not, the “late developer, slow and anti-social” Albert Einstein) heard. ALL of these people experienced serious setbacks (aka failures). ALL of them kept trying.

Family, friends and colleagues may all caution you to stick with what you have and I don’t disparage that at all because they love you and some of them may have experienced the harsh realities of business…
BUT that’s why we have mentors: to counter the even sadder reality of never even trying.

“Even the most embarrassing failures beat the hell out of never even trying”
