you can take the girl out of India but cooking is international

You can take the girl out of India; but…

A client of mine recently complimented me on my Instagram feed (I must admit, they are not so much my invention as a collection of Agnelo’s recorded ‘moments’). And I totally ‘get’ why she would say “Saroj, I love your Instagram page, but why do so many of your recipes have nothing to do with India?

You can take the girl out of India, but you can’t take India out of the girl…

The answer is that cooking was handed down to me in India (mother to daughter); Goan cuisine generously gifted to me by my mother-in-law when I married Agnelo, travelled with me to the UK and morphed into an English interpretation for the many friends we made through Agnelo’s London ‘Fit For Life’ studio. It’s been an adventure!

No surprise then that here in Perth Australia, our household poached eggs are never quite poached eggs, rice is never a tasteless boiled concoction, and even the Sunday Roast is played with!

I love to gather people around the kitchen table for instructive but enjoyable cookery classes. It’s a universal world!

Let’s create! Join me, and bring your friends.
