IPL Laser Hair Removal

Permanent Hair Reduction, Customised to Your Needs

Say goodbye to waxing and shaving! With our new-generation IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) technology, you can enjoy infinitely touchable and silky smooth skin all year round.

At Prana, we utilise the latest advancements in IPL technology to offer you a hair removal solution that is tailored to your specific needs. Whether your hair is blonde, ginger, grey, or white, our Anthélia IPL system makes what was once impossible, possible.

Why Choose Prana’s Anthélia IPL?

Maximum Safety and Comfort

The Anthélia IPL Touch, developed by EFB Beaute France, is a top-tier French medical technology that is TGA and CE medically certified. It features a UV filter and DSF system, ensuring that your treatments are not only effective but also virtually painless. Whether you’re removing coarse or fine hair, our IPL system ensures a safe and comfortable experience.

Effective for All Hair Colors and Skin Tones

Unlike older IPL systems that were only effective on dark hair, our Anthélia IPL technology works on all hair colors, including blonde, ginger, grey, and even white. It’s also safe and effective on all skin tones.

Advanced Technology for Better Results

Anthélia IPL uses photo-epilation—a process that uses pulses of concentrated light to heat the hair shaft and often permanently destroy the hair follicle. What sets Anthélia apart is its ability to treat even sensitive and tanned skin, adapting to the color, texture, and location of hair growth.

While individual results may vary, you can expect silky smooth skin for at least a month after each treatment. On average, about 20% of hair follicles are permanently destroyed with each session.

Personalised Treatment Plans

At Prana, we understand that each person’s needs are unique. That’s why we offer a personal consultation to determine the number and frequency of IPL sessions required for optimal results. Our experts will guide you every step of the way to ensure your complete satisfaction.

IPL Laser Hair Removal – FAQs

Absolutely. The Anthélia IPL system used at Prana is designed with your safety in mind. The intense pulsed light is carefully filtered to block all harmful UV rays, ensuring that only the hair is targeted. The Anthélia IPL technology meets all stringent French and European safety standards, and it is fully TGA and CE certified.

Not really. The sensation during IPL hair removal can vary from person to person. Some people describe it as a mild prickling heat, similar to a gentle snap of a rubber band against the skin. Others compare it to the feeling of a warm stone gliding over the treated area. Any discomfort is brief, and each session concludes with the application of a soothing lotion to ensure your skin feels calm and comfortable.

IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, works by emitting a concentrated beam of light onto the skin. This light is absorbed by the melanin in dark hair (the natural pigment that gives hair its color) or by oxyhemoglobin in light hair (which we enhance through a waxing process prior to treatment). The absorbed light is then transformed into heat, which targets and destroys the hair follicles responsible for hair growth.

The Anthélia IPL system provides permanent hair reduction for all hair colors, including blonde, red, white, and grey, on any part of the body. This includes areas like the back, neck, face, arms, stomach, bikini line, underarms, legs, and Brazilian zones.

In addition to hair removal, the Anthélia IPL is also effective for skin rejuvenation, treating dark pigment from sun damage, sun spots, pustular acne, and red veins, as well as reducing signs of aging by improving the texture and quality of the skin.

While IPL hair removal is effective for all skin types, results can vary based on individual factors such as hair color, skin tone, and hormonal levels. For those with darker skin tones, we carefully adjust the settings to ensure safe and effective outcome. Additionally, while IPL is highly effective for permanent hair reduction, it may not completely eliminate hair growth in all cases. Maintenance sessions might be required to sustain long-term results.

The number of sessions required varies from person to person, depending on factors like hair color, texture, and the location of hair growth. The Anthélia IPL system is designed to provide customised treatments tailored to your individual needs.

Since IPL can only target hair in the active growth phase, and only about 20% of your hair is in this phase at any given time, multiple sessions are necessary. During your consultation, we’ll recommend the appropriate number and frequency of treatments for you. Most clients begin to see permanent hair reduction after just one session, with significant results typically achieved after 6 to 10 sessions.

The duration of your treatment session depends on several factors, including the area being treated, any hormonal imbalances, medications you’re taking, and your skin and hair color. During your consultation, we’ll provide you with an estimate of how long your sessions will take.

Before your IPL treatment, we’ll provide you with personalised guidance during your consultation. However, as a general rule, IPL is not recommended if you:

  • Have hemophilia, diabetes, or epilepsy.
  • Are taking anticoagulants or high doses of aspirin.
  • Have a pacemaker.
  • Are pregnant.
  • Have recently had a spray tan.
  • Have had significant sun exposure within the past 3 weeks.

Before your first IPL session, we recommend the following preparations to ensure the best results:

  • Avoid sun exposure for at least 3 weeks prior to your treatment. Sunburned or tanned skin can increase the risk of complications.
  • Shave the treatment area the day before your appointment. Avoid waxing or plucking, as the hair follicle needs to be intact for the treatment to be effective.
  • Skip lotions, creams, and deodorants on the day of your session, as these can interfere with the effectiveness of the IPL treatment.
  • Inform your therapist of any medications you are taking, especially if they increase your skin’s sensitivity to light.

In most cases, there are no noticeable effects after treatment. However, you may experience slight redness or sensitivity in the treated areas, which usually subsides within a few hours. You can typically return to work the same day and resume most of your normal activities.

To ensure the best results and care for your skin following IPL treatment, we recommend the following after-care protocols:

  • Avoid hot showers and strenuous exercise for 24 hours after treatment.
  • If your skin feels dry or itchy, apply Vitamin E cream or a soothing lotion with mango or aloe vera multiple times a day for at least two days post-treatment.
  • Keep your skin well-hydrated by moisturising daily.
  • After showering, pat your skin dry. Avoid using a loofah on treated areas for at least a week.
  • Avoid exfoliation or using any harsh skincare products on the treated areas for at least 48 hours after your session.
  • For pigmented lesions, allow them to dry out naturally. They may form a scab and fall off—resist the urge to pick or rub the treated areas.
  • Always wear sunblock on treated areas when going outdoors during your IPL treatment course.
  • Avoid tanning booths and self-tanning lotions throughout your treatment period.
  • Do not use Roaccutane, Retinol, or Retin-A products while undergoing IPL treatments.
