Well, most of us don’t have the luxury of choosing the time of day we exercise, but if you do, I would advise first thing in the morning; for the simple reason that it gets your metabolism going and gives you confidence to face the challenges of the day.
But having said that, it is really all down to what fits into your natural inclination and workday schedule. For instance, many people like to train later in the day, because it is a great way to unwind, de-stress from a hard day’s work and give it all they’ve got.
So there’s no real physical benefit to exercising in the morning as opposed to the middle of the day or the evening?
That’s right! As I said, it’s all down to individual convenience and/or preference.
You know work, family and social commitments will often dictate the time of day we choose to exercise and I believe you have to go with what suits you best. Your body knows best. Don’t fight it.
The most important thing is to get into a routine and stick to it; routine forms discipline and discipline creates results in the long term.
