chemical peels and natural peels

Demystifying Peels

Like most professional salons we offer peels as an exfoliation treatment. So let’s briefly look at various methods of removing dead skin cells and how they benefit the skin:

Chemical Peels

Firstly, there are a range of chemical peels categorised as light, medium and deep for various skin concerns.

Depending on the type (formula) of chemical peel you have, the affects to the skin can range from mild discomfort during the process to stinging, redness and irritation for some days post-treatment; sometimes even requiring pain medication. Chemical peels exfoliate but do not protect or nourish the delicate tissues of the skin.

Microdermabrasion

Secondly, there is the mechanical exfoliation method microdermabrasion, which uses crystals to remove dead skin cells and surface pollution. This is ideal for sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles.

Natural Peels

Thirdly, natural peels are derived from fruits and plants such as papaya, mango, orange, grapes etc. (each fruit dealing with specific skin concerns). They are non-aggressive and the way they work is to digest the dead skin cells and remove them completely; leaving the pores clean and rejuvenated. And…

Unlike more radical peel treatments, natural plant-based peels stimulate the natural skin chemistry, clear the clogged pores, remove dead skin cells and improve circulation of the skin cells and capillary vessels. New cells are generated and the natural plumpness of youthful skin is encouraged through collagen growth.

You won’t get side effects or allergic reactions either. In fact with natural peels ‘down time’ (or recovery phase) is greatly reduced and painless.

Just remember…

Our purpose is to consult with you and recommend the most appropriate treatment according to your skin type.

There are no ‘ifs and buts’ in this because we don’t promote brands we don’t believe in and we don’t do anything that dishonours the many stated commitments we’ve made. End of story? Trust rewarded.
