Mum, always my 1962 girl

Oh Mum! How cute you were (even with the cigarette) 🙂

Dear mum, do you remember when your own mother instructed you to be home by 11 “and before you go take off all that makeup!” I remember (because you told me long ago) that not many young men were invited home (a serious move in those days eh?) And laughing, you added that naturally the ones who wore Teddy Boy suits and Elvis haircuts were banned. Do you remember playing the Rolling Stones on a gramophone!

Oh mum, you were sassy, confident, rather disobedient, but always… cool! Yes, time has passed… you’ve grown a little greyer, less inclined to party all night and more inclined to bushwalk with your friends (at last, you can stay up all night, even if it’s in a tent!).

Mum you are still my hero and I still love to be in your company even though you may have no clue what Twitter is (or an App for that matter) and you still send actual birthday cards.

To me, you will always be my 1962 girl.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY DARLING.
