Tough Weekend?

Leave it at home!

For almost all of us, first impressions count. They strongly indicate not only how you’re going to be treated but whether you’ll come back again to this salon.

To give clients peace of mind you need more than credentials

I know, that might seem obvious (especially to my regular clients :). Yes, 1000s of words have been written about ‘attitude’ but do we really think that clients can’t spot genuine from fake? Of course they can! If they feel that their time and money have not been well-spent, the credentials of any salon are compromised.

Credentials are a must. But ‘attitude’ marks the short or long life-span of your beauty therapy career

Some say attitude is fixed but I disagree. Some of us bring our home lives into the workspace and learn the hard way. Some of us separate work from what is basically a Huge part of our lives. My point is that we, as qualified salon owners, should keep a careful eye on our employees and advise… not just because we care for their personal development but because as trainers we are charged with the responsibility to aid their career advancement in every way we can.

My advice?

I have written before that passion cannot be fudged. I stand by that, in the sense that it cannot be faked. But equally, there is almost always a moment in time where we experience genuine pleasure in the genuine connection we have forged with our client. We should grab hold of that moment. It is a Gift. It tells us that regardless of how tough our weekend was or what ‘seriously ticked you off’ on the way to work; this Moment marks you above all that.
