Skincare packages? Not so fast!
There is a great deal of trust involved when we sign on for a course of skincare packages and treatments. Are we in good hands and being advised correctly? Or are we simply being ‘marketed to’? The answer is YES, and MAYBE (in that order)…
Many salons sell skincare packages as a way to give clients an added service – something I’m sure you’re familiar with called ‘upselling’ which basically means that they deliver the treatment you booked in for and ask if you’d like something else to complete it (or alternatively, an unrelated treatment such as a manicure, simply as a treat).
When it comes to a course of treatments, good therapists are trained to assess your skin and advise accordingly (particularly where the skin has long-term damage and must be treated with delicacy). At Prana, we do both.
But not so fast!
Here are the FACTS reputable therapists acknowledge…
ALL skin conditions fluctuate (regardless of gender). For women particularly, hormone levels change from week to week through their cycle… skin condition, hair sheen, weight gain, eating patterns, concentration etc. all in flux! Add to this stress levels, changes in circumstance, pregnancy etc. All these things are fluid and cannot be ‘packaged’.
Thus, each visit requires me to carefully observe, re-think the path we are on, and proceed accordingly.
So are salon packages worthwhile? The answer is “YES, WHERE THERE IS TRUST.”
