follow your dreams

Follow your dreams (for you, Irene)

When you are young and thinking about ‘life after school’ it can be difficult to pinpoint exactly what you want to do. And even later in life, it is tempting to say “this is who I am, this what I do”…

So it was for me in 2008. Uncertain about change, wondering if I was going to make the grade, I enrolled to study at the Australasian Academy of Wellness Therapies and first met Irene Forrest. Teacher, mentor, Irene was (and still is) a cherished influence.

Through her, I learnt that who we think we are is always evolving. And that whatever age we are, there is no cut off point for aspiration. For all of you who may be embarking on an uncertain road, looking for ‘your place’ and your passion in life, let me say this:

Follow your dreams

Never imagine that life is set for you. It isn’t. It is ongoing, for so long as you believe in yourself and in the magic of surprises. One day, any day, someone special will arrive and take you under their wing to inspire, educate and motivate you.

Wherever you are in life, however far you have come – this is your moment. You have crossed paths with someone really special – a ‘teacher’ who sees with absolute clarity what you are capable of. Look for these people. They are everywhere. Surround yourself with good people and you are almost certain to be blessed, as I was. Strangers when you meet – you will know them in your heart – they are students of life who SEE YOU and will guide you towards WHAT YOU CAN BE.

With respect and gratitude to my lifelong friend and mentor, Irene ~ Saroj.
