The Silent Workout: Turn Off, Tune In

Most of us have forgotten to set aside some time out; time out for ourselves. Every hour of the day, things compete for our attention (even right now, as you sit reading this). But in exercise, when you switch off and tune in to your body, the benefits are vast.

The Silent Workout: A Perfect Opportunity

Exercise time provides us with the perfect opportunity to ‘go within’ and dedicate ourselves to living in the moment; and as we perfect this art of meditating in movement we find respite against all the noise around us (including our own thoughts). Now we are ‘listening to our body’ as we move… we are engaged at a much deeper level.

Inner And Outer Focus

In cardiovascular work for instance, we are focused on breathing and a continuity of rhythm. This is the ideal time to clear cluttered thoughts, perform mantras and concentrate on what you want to achieve – in this moment.

In weight training it is a little different but essentially we are still feeling intense pleasure in the moment and experiencing the great benefits of total inner and outer focus.

Silence is a gift we have forgotten. Turn off and tune in to the muscle AND the mind.
