Yoga Facial

What is a Yoga Facial?

Yoga facials are Prana’s own creation and are designed to relax, stretch and importantly benefit your skin. Who knew that having fun could be so good for you?! Set aside between an hour and a half to two hours for the whole yoga facial; as you learn age-old breathing and facial stretching techniques to perform at home.

Stage 1

We start with some breathing techniques and exercises often used in yoga to help relax the person’s mind and body.

Stage 2

This leads to the second stage of the facial where we do facial exercises. Many people don’t know that their facial muscles help to keep the skin toned and firm.

We have facial muscles such as frontalis which is the muscle on our forehead and primarily moves our eyebrows. Also, the mandible muscle which helps us move our jaw, and also our cheekbone muscle the zygomaticus. If we don’t exercise these facial muscles, we start to lose control of our skin and the way our face moves.

This is why it’s important that we focus on these different kinds of facial muscles. In this part of the treatment, no equipment is used other than actually physically exercising our faces.

There are lots of exercises that we have to tighten and strengthen these muscles and it’s actually great fun doing them because at first, we think it’s impossible to make such funny faces. But it’s a great laugh and even laughing itself is a great exercise because it strengthens your vocal cords.

So we focus a lot on our body and exercising our facial muscles. I always tell my clients to do these exercises when standing in front of the mirror as it’s very funny looking at yourself!

Stage 3

In this stage we begin the facial procedure but drawing on the practices of Ayurveda.  We use totally natural ayurvedic herbs and products to exfoliate, nourish and protect the skin.

In summary there are three steps to the Yoga Facial:

  1. Breathing to relax your mind and body.
  2. Facial exercises to exercise all those muscles in your face, jaw and throat.
  3. An all-natural facial procedure using ayurvedic herbs and products.
